Project background

Elmbridge Borough Council were experiencing a number of challenges with their website. Frequent downtime, poor performance and slow load times, unreliability and problems with inaccessible content were all impacting on the user experience for the council’s residents. Mobile device users also reported finding the website difficult to navigate and often unresponsive due to design and functionality issues.

Build a user-centered website experience with LGD

Partnering with UX specialists Invuse, Invdev designed, built, and developed a new LocalGov Drupal (LGD) website for Elmbridge Borough Council. The new website resolves all of EBC’s digital challenges by operating with optimal performance, loading content more swiftly, and providing a fully responsive user experience regardless of the device being used.

5 results of the project

The new Elmbridge Borough Council website was built in just 6 months.
The new site recorded a 45% increase of users directly using the newly implemented site search function to find relevant information.
Working with EBC and Invuse we supported the implementation of Government Digital Service (GDS) standards for accessibility, facilitating WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
EBC’s new LGD website now operates with optimal performance, loading content more swiftly and providing a fully responsive user experience regardless of the device being used.
Invuse’s user research and stakeholder engagement centred approach ensured that ECB’s new website prioritises a practical, adaptable, and user-centric experience.

What is LocalGov Drupal (LGD)?

LocalGov Drupal (LGD) is a publishing platform created by councils, for councils. It’s collaboration of councils and suppliers, working together to design and develop an accessible, open source (Drupal) website platform. We work with councils to help them prepare and migrate their website to LGD, connecting their corporate priorities and goals with the voice of their end users.
